From Blogging to Vlogging

Hi ya peeps,

Am finally getting up with the program; earlier this year I ventured into the world of video making. Having been content creating, website blogging, editing newsletters and doing the poetry rounds for around 20 years yrs now, I thought it only fitting I try and embrace the art of videography.

When I arrived on Youtube to think about creating something I found there’s an influx of oldies just starting out on their journey, some well into their 80’s. Gen Xers and younglings channels are a plenty, so a pretty broad age range and variety of genres, so I thought why not – let’s give it a go.

I’d had an ancient account for a number of years but regarding publishing, not one iota; it had pretty much lain dormant.

Youtube is great for HOW TO videos, comedy, educational, self help, science and tech, homesteading, music vids, gaming content and lifestyle channels etc. In fact it’s pretty much taken over from what was our normal tv (just four channels back in the day) these days.

I don’t bother with the BBC (trash) license. Do you? In fact I don’t even watch mainstream TV anymore. These days you really can’t go wrong ditching the license fee and hooking up with a good streaming service like Netflix and Amazon.

Long form videos on Youtube are supposed to be over 2 minutes and shorts ideally around or just under a minute long. Though my long forms lasts about a minute lol at present so am just getting into the swing of it; they’re jerky as hell, you know the score when you’re just starting out. You have to laugh and bloody hell getting used to that software ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒthere’s just so many options and packages, varying levels of ease depending on your technical ability. You’ll be climbing the walls in no time but hey ho it’s fun to learn new things! As long as you’ve got a phone you can get by learning as you go.
