Nestled in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside is the awe inspiring bygone times 8 sailed windmill in Heckington, England. Built in 1830 by a Gainsborough man named ‘Edward Ingledew’. It’s the only 8 sailed windmill that is still standing in the UK today!

The windmill was originally intended as a 5 sailed mill but was damaged by a heavy thunderstorm and thus repaired in 1892 with parts used from a windmill in nearby Boston.
Over the years its’s been used as a sawmill and cornmill and gone through numerous repairs and restoration; being finally purchased by Heritage Lottery funding in 2013. The mill is now in full working order to date and houses a tea room and visitor’s centre.
